St John's Under Fives Pre-School asked parents to bake a cupcake at home and bring it to the pre-school so children could decorate and eat them at the afternoon tea.

Manager Lorraine Pearson said: "Many staff members have relatives who are suffering this awful disease, so we wanted to take part in Cupcake Day.

"The children had fantastic fun pouring their juice into real cups and saucers and enjoyed their afternoon tea.

"We managed to raise a fantastic £140.

"We believe that children should learn and help people that are less fortunate than us and like to share what we have and be kind to each other.

"I am so proud of all our families and this wonderful amount of money we raised."
