The dynamic duo, who live in Liversedge, have been spreading smiles during lockdown by posting uplifting videos to Joseph’s Facebook page ‘Uke Dad’.

Joseph, 45, decided to post the videos after his ukulele classes at the local library were cancelled due to social distancing measures.

“It was awful when the libraries closed as I knew that many of my students would be at a loss without their fortnightly dose of ukulele strumming, so I decided that I would still teach but from the comfort of my own home,” said Joseph.

The pair have also been sending personalised messages to those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries during lockdown.

“We’ve had a lovely reaction to the videos. We’ve started getting recognised when we’ve been out on our daily exercise or getting essentials. People have been stopping us, sending us positive messages and we’ve even had people beeping from their cars. People keep saying how cute Daisy is - I think she’s definitely upstaged me!”

As well as winning over the hearts of hundreds of viewers, the double act have experienced a couple of blunders along the way.

“Normally we’d have a few takes of a song before posting it, but recently we’ve done some live sessions. In one of the videos Daisy was supposed to tell people to ‘wash their hands’ but she came out with ‘wash your bum’ so it’s become a bit of a catchphrase.”

As well as teaching ukulele, Joseph is a carer at Norcott House in Liversedge.

“When I’ve been at work I’ve been getting loads of requests for songs from the residents. Sometimes they’ve asked for songs that I don’t know so I’ve had to spend a good bit of time learning them, which has been keeping me busy. It’s not just the older folks that have been enjoying the videos, people of all ages have said they’ve enjoyed them.”
