The victim was alone in the living room of his St Barnabas Road home at around 11am when two people have entered and made demands for money. The intruders pushed the pensioner around causing his trousers to rip before leaving with his bag, containing cash and a bank book.

Det Con Andy Clayton, of Kirklees CID, said: “Thankfully the victim was not physically hurt but understandably this incident has left him distressed and anxious.

The suspects have left with the victim’s bag which was a black canvas shoulder bag with red stripes and a zip on top. If anyone thinks they have seen anyone with this bag they are urged to get in touch.

“Anyone with information which could aid our investigation is asked to call Kirklees CID on 101.”
