Det Con Richard Brooke, of Kirklees CID, said: “This is clearly a very serious offence in which a 70-year-old woman has been assaulted in her own home.

“It is important we locate the men responsible as quickly as possible

“All three were described as white and wearing dark clothing, and made off in the direction of Abbey Road.

“Fortunately incidents such as this are rare and I would ask anyone who saw three men behaving suspiciously outside the address shortly before the incident, or fleeing in the direction of Abbey Road to contact us.”

Anyone with information should call Kirklees CID on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
