Peacocks buyer decides fate of stores in Dewsbury, Heckmondwike and Wakefield

THE future of Peacocks stores in West Yorkshire has been decided after a buyer was found for the clothes retailer.

Administrators KPMG yesterday announced the sale of the brand, including 388 stores, to Edinburgh Woollen Mill.

Stores in Dewsbury and Heckmondwike have been saved from closure, protecting 24 jobs.

But the company’s shop at Trinity Walk in Wakefield was closed and its 12 staff made redundant.

Other closures in the region include Huddersfield, Halifax and Leeds.
