Patients give their views on hospitals

The Care Quality Commission’s inpatient survey sought views from people treated at the Trust’s hospitals in Dewsbury, Wakefield and Pontefract during 2012.

They were asked for views on waiting times, care, operations and more before the results were compared to those of 155 other trusts.

The survey found the Trust was among the best in areas such as not re-arranging a patients’ admission date.

But it performed worse than average in other areas, including the perception of enough nurses being on duty.

Trust interim chief executive Stephen Eames said: “I’m pleased that the majority of patients who took part feel that we are doing well in some really key areas.

“However, the survey highlights some really significant areas that we need to review. I’m disappointed that when asked about their overall experience, patients responded less favourably than in 2011. This is simply not good enough.”
