Pair jailed for thefts

Michal and Mario Hubinsky, of Calder Road, Ravensthorpe, admitted several theft charges at earlier hearings.

Last Tuesday, Dewsbury Magistrates’ Court heard how on June 22, the pair dropped three mobile phones they had stolen from an Orange shop in Middlesbrough as they were leaving the store.

When arrested Mario Hubinskey, 23, handed over two more phones that had been stolen from a Vodafone shop.

Richard Ogden, prosecuting, said Michal Hubinsky had a stall on Dewsbury market where he sold dummy mobile phones stolen from shop displays.

Mr Ogden said the two men were arrested again after stealing a mobile phone from The Phone Shop in Batley on June 25.

Michal Hubinsky, 24, also stole a phone from the O2 store in the White Rose Centre on August 13 and another from the Carphone Warehouse in Manchester on August 18.

Paul Blanchard, mitigating, said Michal Hubinsky was unable to get a job and make money because he had lost his immigration papers. He said his brother was often with him in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Michal Hubinsky was sentenced to 32 months in prison for five counts of theft.

Mario Hubinsky was sentenced to 18 months in prison for three counts of theft.
