Why is our council discouraging visitors?

After reading the letter from the couple from Bradford who parked in Cliffe Street Car Park and put the wrong date on by mistake (£50 fine for parking pass error! November 16) I was outraged by our uncaring council.

A couple of weeks previously, the travelling community parked illegally in the railway station car park, inconveniencing commuters and shoppers alike, and at what cost to tax payers? And what has the council done about it?

Last Saturday my husband and I were in Dewsbury shopping and were pleasantly surprised to see all the food and craft stalls in the square and inside the town hall.

How uplifting for the town after recent bad publicity, all to be undone by a rigid and uncaring council which has discouraged so many people from coming to our town.
