I have delayed saying a public thank you to Andrew Marsden and his gallant flight crew for their fabulous efforts in mounting Batley Vintage Day in order that our gratitude didn’t get lost in the welter of praise that was quite rightly poured on them for a truly fabulous day.

We are truly grateful because Andrew chose to support the food bank with the “bring a tin to get in” message that went out with the publicity and we are very grateful to the public who responded with such wonderful generosity. Our shelves were much replenished at the end of the day and many people chose to give cash donations instead allowing us to stock up on those items that we constantly run out of.

It is extremely heartening when people intent on having a good day out can nevertheless spare some thoughts for those in a less fortunate position and the generosity of Batley folk never fails to amaze.

So once again, thank you Andrew Marsden and thank you the good people of Batley - and the visitors from near and far.
