Trojans’ charity success

May I take this opportunity to thank everybody who attended the Thornhill Trojans Charity Boxing event at the rugby club.

It really was a night that will live long in the memory of the village. People were coming up to me the next day commenting that they hadn’t had such an evening within Thornhill for 20 years!

This couldn’t however have been done without help from a certain few individuals.

First of all thank you to all the trainers on the evening, Kev Lumb being the head trainer. Secondly to Tom Abbott for producing and donating the signage used on the evening, also to the 20+ helpers who turned out on Saturday morning to lend a hand in any way.

Thank you to my dad, the beloved coach of Thornhill Trojans and now seemingly owner of a new ‘Let’s get ready to rumbbbbbbbblllleeee!!!!’ catchphrase...

But most of all a massive thanks is extended to the 12 boxers that competed on the night. These lads gave up their spare time and risked their humility to compete on the night and raise money for some worthy causes.

We hit our target of £1,000 for Help for Heroes and also raised just short of £1,500 for the first teams’ tracksuits for next year.

If you missed it, we are already in the process of planning a July 2013 fight night at the rugby club, this time hopefully quadrupling the audience to 1,000 spectators!

My apologies if I have missed any thanks out, after all – even Jake ‘Don King’ Ratcliffe is human!
