School reunion a great success

This will take place at 7.30pm on Friday October 22 in The Melton Lounge at St Mary’s Parochial Hall, Cross Bank, Batley.

Warwick Road School drew a lot of its pupils from Batley Carr and quite a few went on the secondary education in Dewsbury.

Previously unseen photographs have come to light and a couple of these are here to remind people of their old school friends and team mates.

The team photograph shows the victorious Road Safety Quiz Team in 1954-55. The team members are Joan Tordoff, Allan Thompson, Joan Beevers, Terence Armitage and Margaret Hull.

The class photograph is probably from 1956-57 and includes many familiar faces with some remembered names including Barry Stokes, Frank Smith, Stewart Heylings, Yvonne Dews, Beryl Hemingway, Nancy Fitton, Margaret Pollard, Richard Shackleton, David Sykes, Patricia Taylor and Linda Perry.

There has already been a lot of interest from people who couldn’t make it last year and we are hoping for a really good attendance. Please try to come along you will be made very welcome.
