Salute to a union man
George Ward was small in stature but he had the heart of a lion. He was fanatical about the trade union movement to which he devoted his life. He was the epitome of a true trade unionist, always putting more into the movement than he ever took out. He was a life member of the boiler makers section of the GMB union. He served the Dewsbury branch as president for over 20 years.
George was a staunch socialist and always fought for the underdog. When he saw injustice he would fight tirelessly to put it right. He always put others before himself.
