our-sourcing jobs to India is immoral
At the same time that I’m reading in this newspaper that 1,460 npower jobs are set to move to India, a letter arrives in the post from them headed “We’re Sorry”.
Not sorry for the sacking of their customer services staff in this country, or this month’s electricity prices increase for its 5.4 million customers by 10.4 per cent.
Their apology is due to the problems they are having with an new computer system which means problems with bills, statements and direct debit payments.

Hide AdHow will this be improved by out-sourcing its customer services is anyone’s guess.
What is happening is immoral. The government is giving a free hand to energy companies to do as they please, with no thought for the customer and staff.
Labour is right to call for a freeze on energy prices.
We also need a commitment to re-nationalise the energy companies.
