More indians, fewer chiefs!

I READ with interest the article Women’s service review goes public (March 8).

I would have to agree with Dewsbury and Mirfield MP Simon Reevell that the delay in making the findings public gave the impression that there was something to hide. It is now apparent that there were severe failings and in my view and experience they have to stem from the top.

Ms McErlain-Burns’ remedy of appointing yet more managers is unlikely to have the desired effect, there are already more than enough managers, who are highly paid. If they were doing their jobs properly the problems highlighted in this report would not have arisen. If there is more money to be spent, services will only improve if it is spent on front line workers who deliver the services and have patient contact.
