Letter: Mirfield Armed Forces Day event couldn’t have been better
It was a pleasure to be in attendance and a lot of hard work must have been put in by Tim Wood and Barry Fretwell from the Legion in organising such a large event. I couldn’t count the number of people there but it was a good turn out. One thing that struck me
most was the age groups there, the many local organisations, dignitaries and members of the public.

Hide AdI cannot fail to mention the Air cadets from 868 squadron, they were all dressed immaculately in their smart uniforms, did a wonderful job marching, holding the standards and after the event did a wonderful job with their marching and drumming, they really are a credit to their parents, their Squadron Commander and Mirfield!
The day was quite emotional I think for all in attendance especially when Simon Reevell and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant presented medals to past military personal for their services to the country. It couldn’t have been a better day, even the sun came out exactly at 12pm as the service started.
