Letter: Mirfield alive with the sound of music

On Saturday September 21, Mirfield was alive with the ‘Sound of Music’, the music being played by The Hepworth Brass Band in St Paul’s Church, excellently conducted by Mr Stig Maersk who joined the band last year.

It was an amazing performance, superb music including, Music from Broadway, the theme music from Batman the Movie, 1812 overture and at my request the Gallop from the William Tell Overture. In addition many more wonderful compositions the entire programme coming over absolutely fabulous with the fine acoustics of St Paul’s.

I would like to thank you to Colin and Bev Fretwell and Howard and Jenny Webster for organising the event as well as to Brian Nicholson for doing an entertaining job as compere.

I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at the very reasonable cost of £7 per ticket.
