A healthy future

We noticed Christine Hyde’s concern about the future of the NHS in last week’s letterbox (A healthy option) and would like to reassure her – and all North Kirklees residents – that we care passionately about the National Health Service.

NHS North Kirklees Clinical Commissioning Group will always use its commissioning powers within the law to secure the best possible health services for the people it serves, within available budgets.

The NHS Constitution – the ‘contract’ between the NHS and patients – is committed to providing fair and equitable services for everyone. We have taken that commitment and threaded it throughout our own constitution to make sure it is at the heart of everything we do. The inspectors who came to visit us in December to evaluate our progress towards being ready and able to take on the NHS commissioning role in April described us as “an excellent CCG which has made good progress in setting out its clinical and service priorities”.

We hope this gives our residents confidence that we will do our very best to be a listening and responsive organisation working in real partnership with our community to create and deliver services which help everyone live a longer, healthier, happier life.
