A hard act to follow
May I take this opportunity to express my gratitude and thanks on behalf of the people of Mirfield.
It is not often I write to the local paper especially on the subject of mayors, to be honest I usually stay well clear! But I do feel that the outgoing Mayor of Mirfield, Pat Sutcliffe, deserves thanks; if nothing else for her tireless charity work, the huge amount raised and for bringing the role of mayor to a humanistic smiling concept that most politicians could only dream of. She will be greatly missed and a difficult act to follow.
