The Flame will be in Dewsbury on June 25, when it was also visit Batley, Morley and Wakefield.

Kirklees Council Olympic Champion Coun Masood Ahmed said: “We are now starting to firm up the complex logistics of hosting the Relay and also to plan our celebrations around this exciting time. We would like to hear from community groups and organisations that are keen to plan events and activities which will help make each day the Relay passes through Kirklees a day to remember.”

Dewsbury and Mirfield MP Simon Reevell added: “The arrival of the Olympic Torch on June 25 2012 will give our local community a unique opportunity to show the country, and the world, the positive side of everything that we have to offer here in Dewsbury.”

The locations are amongst more than 1,000 villages, towns and cities announced by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games through which the Olympic Flame will be carried by torchbearers.

Torchbearers will be announced later in the year, but Harry Crowther, 12, from Mirfield is in the running to be one.
