A former editor of the Batley and Birstall News will be among the guest speakers at the second Reporter Series readers carol concert later this month.

John Wilson will be joined by former deputy editor Margaret Watson and One Community trustee Chris Battye in giving short readings or reflections on the meaning of Christmas.

The carol concert will take place at Dewsbury Minster on Wednesday December 18 – and all our readers are invited to join us.

Mirfield Salvation Army Band and the Minster’s accomplished organist Stephen Parker will provide the music, and the Rev Canon Kevin Partington, rector of Dewsbury Minster, will lead the service.

Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start. Entry is free, but donations to the retiring collection would be welcome.

Proceeds will be shared by the Salvation Army Band and the Reporter Series Fund.

The fund supports One Community, Kirkwood Hospice, Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and Asthma UK.
