Nursery described as '˜outstanding in all areas' by Ofsted

A Cleckheaton nursery has been described as outstanding in all areas by the schools watchdog.

Ofsted gave Katie’s Kinder Care, based at Springfield Farm in Moorside, the top rating following a visit in April.

Inspector Nicola Dickinson wrote a report which praised the “exceptional drive” of its leadership, “superb” parent-staff relationships and inspiring learning environment.

The report reads: “Children flourish in this highly inspiring environment.

“They are nurtured and encouraged to discover and investigate.

“Child-initiated learning is supported by first-class teaching that promotes critical thinking, problem solving and perseverance.

“All children are making very rapid progress and most are exceeding expected levels of development for their age.”

It said that staff provide an exceptional range of resources and activities that reflects the diversity of children’s home lives and experiences.

“They help children gain an understanding of people, their community and the wider world,” it reads.

Since 2012, the facility has benefited from employing early years teacher Lily Wilkinson.

The report reads that she has “an exemplary understanding of how children learn and develop.

“She supports staff to develop educational programmes that are meticulously planned to meet children’s individual needs and interests.”

It adds: “Partnerships with parents and other carers are superb. They are fully involved in children’s learning at all levels.

Parents receive a wealth of the information that helps them to continue their children’s learning at home.”

Children are also emotionally very well prepared for later stages of their learning.

Nursery owner Kate Lodge said: “Our inspection really does acknowledge the fantastic work that our nursery practitioners do on a day to day basis to ensure that all children flourish and fulfil their potential.

“Since creating the position for an Early Years Teacher back in May 2012, we have seen an obvious impact on children’s learning, staff development and the setting as a whole.”
