Members of 38 Degrees will hold a rally outside Dewsbury Railway Station on Saturday April 25. They say they want to ensure the health service receives the funding it needs and are opposing further privatisation of services.

And the group has organised a petition – signed by 700 local people so far – which calls on all the parliamentary hopefuls for the Dewsbury constituency to fight against privatisation and a controversial trade deal.

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership is a proposed trade deal between the EU and USA that critics fear will lead to corporations having more power over governments but supporters say will increase economic growth. 36 Degrees executive director David Babbs said: “People in Kirklees will be standing with thousands of others across the country to stand up for our NHS.” Anyone interested in joining the demonstration should visit www.38degrees.org.uk/nhs-events for more information on how to take part.
