Muslim festival organisers invite community to be part of Ramadan

Traditional Indian food will be laid out, particularly for the local homeless, and people in need.

Organiser Abdul Wajid said: “We want to bring Ramadan into the local community.

“Ramadan is traditionally for the Muslim community, but me and some of my friends asked our brothers and sisters to help us open it up so we could share the experience, especially with people who are more in need.

“We want to share what we do with our non-Muslim neighbours.”

People attending the event are asked to bring some extra food if they can, in particular rice dishes, samosas, Chicken Tikka, sheek kebabs and pakoras to complement a set menu.

Drinks, napkins, plates, cutlery and other food items would also be welcome, as well as donations of other essential items including blankets, clothes, toothpaste and shampoo.

Ramadan For All will be held at Mochachinos, in Crackenedge Lane opposite Dewsbury Market, at 3.30pm on Friday August 17.
