Oldroyd, of Great Pond Street, Ravensthorpe, was charged late on Tuesday. He is accused of stabbing Mr Brocklesby after a fight in the street in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A post-mortem examination showed a number of stab wounds to Mr Brocklesby’s back and found he had died from his injuries.

After the attack Mr Brocklesby was taken to Dewsbury and District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Oldroyd did not enter a plea to the charge.

His trial is expected to take place in October.

He first appeared in the courts on Wednesday when he stood before Batley and Dewsbury magistrates.
