Mosque leaders visit local pensioners

Faith leaders from Anwar-e-Medina Jamia visited Stonewater’s Savile Court sheltered housing complex on Queen Street and presented a large cream cake to delighted pensioners.
The meet-up was organised as part of the mosque’s community outreach work to mark the end of the recent Eid-Milad celebrations for Muslim families.

“We feel it is one of our duties as imams to have a wider understanding of the mixed neighbourhood served by us, and to meet up with members from other organisations,” said the Crawshaw Street mosque’s leader Imam Mahmood Khan.
“It’s amazing how much can be learned about other cultures just by talking to people from different communities.”
The Islamic leaders also learned about the work done by Stonewater to care for its residents.
