James Bould, 34, has made contact with his partner.
Det Insp Steph Wiseman, of Kirklees CID, said: “He has suggested he is coming back to this area today.”
Mr Bould went missing from Sports Direct on Monday at 8am.
Police raised concerns for Mr Bould’s welfare due to an existing medical condition.
