Mirfield charity Safe Anchor Trust offers free boat trips for families

FAMILIES set sail along the River Calder when a charity held one of its regular summer open days.

The Safe Anchor Trust runs free boat trips for families in Mirfield and the wider area.

The charity was set up in 1995 to give people with special needs access to the waterways and special needs groups visit the trust’s base at Shepley Bridge Marina, Huddersfield Road, throughout the year.

The summer open weekends are open to all have been running for the last six years as a way of thanking the people of Mirfield for their support.

At Christmas time the Trust runs Santa Special trips, where children can meet Santa Claus on board one of the boats.

The next open weekend takes place on August 25-27, 10.30am-4pm.
