Kumon Y’all Let’s Unite welcomed Minister for the Cabinet Office Francis Maude to their Savile Town base.

The group’s project leader Farook Yunus introduced Mr Maude to Kumon Y’all’s young men, who aim to bring communities together and mould the next generation of British Muslims by doing good work.

A football tournament in August raised more than £4,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mr Maude said: “Kumon Y’all is a brilliant group promoting understanding through sport and positive action. I am impressed by their enthusiasm and dedication and can see this is another shining example of a community coming together and feeling empowered to address the issues they care about.”

Mr Yunus said: “Mr Maude was interested in the activities we do to bring the community together. It is just simple things – eating, laughing, playing together – that communities aren’t doing anymore.”
