Hide AdDewsbury Fire Station watch commander Chris Johnson confirmed the fire was fully out by 3pm today and the three-storey building has been torn down.
He said: “It’s basically a pile of rubble now with cages around it.”
The cause of the fire is still not known but it is thought to have been accidental at this stage, he added.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service area manager Nick Smith has praised fire crews from across the region who battled the blaze in difficult, windy conditions.
He said that the incident caused a real risk of spreading to neighbouring buildings, which were evacuated.
The mill was used predominantly for textiles.
