Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust received 1,405 written complaints against their hospitals and community health services in 2013-2014.

In line with national opinion, the issue which most angered patients in West Yorkshire after “all aspects of clinical treatment” was the attitude of staff. Figures exclude complaints towards general practices and dental care.

David Melia, interim director of patient and staff engagement at the trust, said: “Patient feedback is very important to help us evaluate our services and make improvements in our care.

“While the number of complaints we receive is very small compared to the number of people we care for every year, we will always take every opportunity to improve the quality of the services, care and experience we provide.”

He said Mid Yorkshire’s complaints figures reduced from last year and that it has a “robust” complaints system.

The Trust received 1,405 written complaints compared to the national figure of 114,308 – a 4,992 increase since last year for hospitals and community health services.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service Trust were subject to 481 and South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust, 338.

Local Community Partnerships had 30 made against it, and North Kirklees CCG had 9.
