Masked raiders threaten Tesco staff

Masked robbers armed with a knife and a metal bar threatened shop staff before making off with cash.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the robbery at the Tesco Express on Leeds Road, Dewsbury on Saturday.

Two white men entered the shop at around 10.15pm and threatened and man and a woman working there with a knife and metal bar, while demanding cash. They fled with the money leaving both staff members shaken but unharmed.

The first suspect was white, slim and wearing a black balaclava, blue and white gloves and a black body warmer with a red Adidas motif. He had a dark coloured top underneath the body warmer, blue jeans and dark coloured trainers and was carrying a black handled kitchen knife.

The second was also white and wearing a dark green flat cap, black gloves, dark blue jumper with a red square/tag at the rear of the neck, light grey cotton jogging bottoms and white trainers. He was carrying a metal pole.

Both men were also described as being in their late teens to early 20s.

DI Andy Parr of Dewsbury CID said: “We are investigating this incident and are currently following a number of positive lines of enquiry.

“We are appealing for witnesses to come forwards and anyone who saw the incident or has any information at all about the offence is requested to contact DC Mike Parris at Dewsbury CID on 101.
