Marley the bulldog collars gold in national competition

A PEDIGREE puppy has got into the Olympic spirit and bagged himself a gold medal at a national competition.

Marley, a seven-month-old Johnson American Bulldog, came first in the Best Male, aged six to nine months category at a competition hosted by the American Bulldog Registry UK.

Marley’s owners, Chris Ramsden, 39, and Nicola Wharton, 37, and Chris’ three children said they were over the moon at their puppy’s achievement. They hope the win will be the first of many.

Mr Ramsden said: “Because of the way Marley looks he’s tarred with the same brush as a bull terrier, but his breed actually has nothing to do with the Dangerous Dogs Act.

“I’m glad that now he’s won this competition people might realise that he’s really a lovely, well behaved dog.”
