Man threatened with Stanley knife in terrifying attempted robbery

A man was forced to run and hide from two teenagers who threatened to rob him at knife-point.

He was walking with his brother on Thursday August 28 in Ravensthorpe when they were approached by two men who asked him for a lighter.

His brother left and he continued walking with the pair towards the garages close to Clarkson Street and then towards the park by Heron Close.

On the way he threw his mobile phone into a bush as he worried he was about to be robbed.

In Heron Close the men pushed him against a fence, threatened him with a Stanley knife and demanded money but he had none to give.

They told him he could not leave but after a short time he took an opportunity to run away, retrieve his phone and hide before returning home and calling the police.

The incident took place between 11.15pm and 2am in the morning of Friday August 28.

The first man is described as mixed race with light brown hair styled in a quiff.

He is around 5ft and 5ins tall, aged 17-18 and was wearing a grey long-sleeved sweater and light blue jogging bottoms.

The second man was white, aged 17-18, with a stocky build and 5ft and 7ins inches tall.

He had short dark brown hair and had a slit in his right eyebrow.

He was wearing a black waist-length jacket with black buttons and a red outline, and black trousers.

Det Con Andy Clayton said: “If anyone has any information, please can they contact the Kirklees robbery team on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
