Man seriously injured after gang attack

A man suffered serious injuries after he was pulled out of a car and assaulted by a gang of thugs.

The incident happened near a take away on Warwick Road, Batley, at about 8.10pm on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old man was in the passenger seat of a grey Volkswagen Golf when a group of four or five men arrived at the scene in a 4x4 vehicle.

They pulled the man out of the car and assaulted him.

Police said the victim’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening and that he remains in hospital for treatment.

Det Con Shaun Topham, of Kirklees CID, said: “This incident has occurred on a busy road.

“I am certain that someone will have seen something and I would urge them to come forward with any information. Enquiries are ongoing.”
