Man pinned to the floor and robbed on his way home

A 59-year-old man was stalked through Dewsbury town centre and robbed by two men.

The incident took place at 12.30am yesterday (Thursday) morning as the man was on his way home.

Two men followed him through the town centre, across Market Place and up the side of the town hall.

The man crossed the ring road and headed up Wakefield Road when he was grabbed from behind.

One man pinned him to the ground while another went through his pockets, taking cash.

Both men were shouting at their victim throughout.

It is thought they started following him from Market Place.

DC Peter Usher, of Huddersfield CID, said: “This is a vicious robbery against a 59-year-old man who simply walking home.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed it to contact police. We want to speak to two men in connection with the incident.

“They are both described as white, aged in their mid-20s, 5ft 10ins tall and of slim build.

“One of the men wore a grey coloured hooded top with some kind of motif on the front. The other man wore dark clothing.”

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101.
