Det Con Andy Clayton, from Huddersfield CID, said: “The incident occurred around 11.30pm on Thursday August 14 as the 52-year-old victim was walking home to his address on Parker Road.

“Shortly before arriving home he became aware of a number of men closely behind him. As he entered the property the men forced their way into the victim’s home.

“Following an untidy search of the property the men fled after stealing a number of items of gold jewellery including a necklace and a Seiko watch. Personal property including a wallet and a Samsung Galaxy mobile phone were also taken in the robbery.

“I am appealing for witnesses to any suspicious behaviour around the time of the incident to come forward.

“Crimes of this type are fortunately very rare and we are continuing to examine the circumstances leading up to the incident.

“The victim was uninjured but has been left understandably shocked by what took place, and is continuing to help us with our enquiries.”
