Man attacked in Leeds Road during attempted armed robbery

Police are on the hunt for armed thieves attacked a man at a house in Dewsbury.

Dewsbury police want to speak to two men in connection with an attempted burglary during which a 20-year-old man was assaulted in a house in Leeds Road.

The men forced entry into the property at around 10.10pm on Friday (May 15). The male victim was hit with a weapon, believed to be a metal bar, when he tried to prevent the suspects from entering the living room. He received minor injuries to his hand during the assault.

Detective Constable Andy Clayton from Huddersfield CID said: “Both suspects have been described as white males. The first man was around 25-years-old, at least 5ft 7ins tall, of slim build and with a thin ‘tired’ face.

“He was wearing a black hoodie with a white pattern or motif on the front. The second man is described as being around 5ft 9ins tall with broad shoulders. He wore a face mask covering the lower part of his face.

“Someone must know who these two men are and we want those individuals, or anyone with any information, to contact the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
