Organisers are also taking applications for stalls and offering sponsorship packages for the show on Sunday August 17.

Mirfield Showground will once again be a hive of activity as thousands of visitors from Yorkshire and beyond turn out to browse stalls, watch performances in the main arena and compete in a wide range of show classes.

And the craft marquee will be organised by Made in Yorkshire this year to tie in with the show theme of Celebrate Yorkshire.

Chairwoman Karen Bullivant said: “Despite the weather last year, the day itself ran smoothly and was another success. The rain did mean the number of visitors and exhibitors was slightly down, however we have a great loyal crowd that come out whatever the weather.

“The key for 2014 is maintaining the show’s high standard without increasing the entrance fee – despite rising costs and difficulties in grants and sponsorship.”

The show is offering various sponsorship packages from £200 upwards, with benefits including free trade pitches, big screen adverts, free passes and lunches, and website coverage.

Meanwhile, local organisations and businesses have until March 7 to apply for a stall.

The massive growth of the show in recent years has seen demand for stalls soar and some applicants left disappointed because of limited space.

Once all the applications are in, the committee will use the local and entertainment-based criteria set out on its website to ensure there is a good mix of stalls for visitors to enjoy.

But first it will be reviewing tenders for food concessions, which must be submitted by tomorrow (Friday).

Stalls for the craft marquee, where demand is high, will be allocated on a first-come-first served basis.

Applications must still meet the criteria of having real homemade and handcrafted produce, creating visitor interest, being run by local traders and adding to the overall show experience though.
