Lotto cash helped study group pupils

Pupils preparing for exams were given extra help to build maths and literacy skills thanks to lottery cash.

Schoolcroft Tenants’ and Residents’ Association teamed up with Westmoor Primary School for the 12 week study programme.

The SAT-urday Hub was open to year six pupils who were getting ready to sit their SATs exams.
The sessions, funded by the Dewsbury Moor Big Local lottery grant, were led by a qualified teacher and an assistant.

Coun Darren O’Donovan (Lab, Dews West) said: “This group is a positive example of how we can influence young people to succeed.

“All pupils left the group much more confident in their studies and well prepared for their SATs exams. Importantly, they also had a future career aspiration.”
