Lorry blaze on M62 stops traffic in both directions

A lorry fire on the M62 has caused five miles of traffic as emergency services deal with the blaze.

Emergency services are on the M62 westbound from J22 to J21, west of Huddersfield.

The carriageway is being cleared due to an ongoing vehicle fire.

Highways officers are also on the scene.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Our crews are currently dealing with a lorry fire on the M62 between J21 and J22.

"The road is currently closed in both directions. Please avoid the area while our crews respond to this incident."

Road users are being asked to avoid the area and divert Eastbound.

Follow the solid triangle symbol on road signs for the diversion.

Leave at J21 and take the 2nd exit off the roundabout.

Head onto the A6193 Eastbound then the A640 Southbound.

Rejoin the M62 at J22 after following the A672 Northbound.
