Cleckheaton Online Radio, or CORadio, will say a big thank you to local bands from across North Kirklees at a bash at Heckmondwike’s Comrades Club.

Wayne Davidson, from CORadio, said this year more the station received more than 50,000 votes, the biggest in its three-year history.

He said: “I don’t think the artists and bands get enough recognition for the work they do. We want to bring some glitz and glamour for when everyone puts on their gladrags.

“We always make sure that everyone who has helped the station gets a mention. To put it in a short and blunt way we are saying thank you, because if I went around and thanked everyone individually I would be there all day.”

Acts MK II, The Hijacked, Shelbi Hoole, The Last Minute, The River and I, and Scott Wainwright will perform sets.

Former Britain’s Got Talent contestant Stuart Arnold, known for his impersonations of Keith Lemon, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and characters from comedy programme Bo Selecta, will compere.

Mr Davidson said the station had grown in the last year and thanked Oakwell Festival event director Paul Fisher and the rest of his team for allowing CORadio staff to compere the event last year.

CORadio, which depends on donations and volunteers to operate, now gets around 12,000 listeners a day.

The event will take place on Friday January 29. Tickets are £7 and available from www.coradiolive.com. No tickets will be on sale at the door.
