This is the stark picture painted by a Ravensthorpe councillor after a relative was targeted in a violent robbery.
The wife of Karam Hussain’s nephew was subjected to a terrifying ordeal in her own home, which is at the cemetery end of Ravenshouse Road.
Three men kicked down her door, put a knife to her throat and snatched jewellery from her arm and hands.
They fled when the woman’s young daughter came home from the local mosque. Two younger children were in the house.
The 30-year-old woman has been left traumatised and too afraid to speak.
A sickened Coun Hussain (Lib Dem, Dews West) said the culprits were local men who were ‘robbing their own community’. And he called on residents to help bring criminals to book.
“This is a very dangerous and sad thing which has happened,” he said.
“It is a terrifying situation but people are too frightened to speak out.”
