Liversedge man awarded OBE

A Liversedge man was awarded an OBE for services to accounting and the community.

The University of Huddersfield’s director of finance Andrew McConnell was included in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, released today (Friday).

Mr McConnell, 61, of Church View Close, said: “It’s unbelievable. It’s such an honour and unexpected.”

Mirfield-born Mr McConnell attended Whitcliffe Mount Grammar School in Cleckheaton, later becoming a chartered accountant.
