Dewsbury Rams have signed centre Cameron Leeming from League One side Keighley Cougars as new coach Lee Greenwood continues preparations ahead of pre-season.

Leeming began his career at Wakefield Trinity before having spells at Hunslet and Keighley and the 23-year-old is looking forward to making the step up to Championship level as the Rams embark on a new era.

Leeming admits he is excited at the prospect of joining Dewsbury, who beat off competition from several other clubs to capture his signing, and teaming up with some familiar faces.

Leeming said: “I am looking forward to having a good pre-season and putting a shirt on in the friendlies already.

“I had a few other options of different clubs at Championship and League One level but the opportunity to play with top level players and work with a good young coaching staff tempted me.

“I know Rikki (Sheriffe) from my time at Keighley and we worked pretty closely when he was there so I spoke to him prior to joining and he really sold it to me.”

“I know a couple of the lads in the team, I played with Adam Ryder and Gabes (Andy Gabriel) last year at Keighley. When I first started out at Wakefield Lucas Walshaw and Kyle Trout were in their 20s there so I’d trained with them a few times.”
