Leaders Aardvarks fall to Cuckoos

Mark Land was in superb form for the Cuckoos winning all his three games and only dropping two sets. He was well supported by Steve Morris who won two games, and Adrian Worth who won a game. Land and Morris also won the doubles game in three straight sets.

The best game was Land’s four-set win over the wily Ian Fothergill. Land won 11-4, 11-8, 9-11, 14-12.

The T’old Men have only lost one match this season, and they kept up their good form with an 8-2 win over second- placed Battyeford.

Steve Kosmowsky was the player-of-the-match with three excellent wins. The father and son combination of Phil and Thomas Bell were in good form the T’Old Men as they both won two games each, and they won the doubles game in three straight sets.

Battyeford’s two wins came from another father and son combination, that of John and Nick Flynn, who won a game each. The performance of the night was Nick Flynn’s five set win over Thomas Bell. Flynn came from two sets to one down (15-13, 6-11, 7-11) to win the final two sets 14-12, 11-4.

The Terriers were gained a valuable win over the Cuckoos, with a 6-4 win. Bernard Oldroyd and Kevin Jones won two games each, with Frank Lockwood one. The MoM was the Cuckoos’ Adrian Worth who won all his three games.

The Terriers had a close match against the Colts A, as they sneaked a 6-4 win. Lockwood won three games and Oldroyd two, plus they won doubles. The Colts’ talented youngster James Hobson beat Oldroyd in five sets and just failed to beat Lockwood 17-19 in their final set.

League player Hannah Ferguson will attend coaching at the Bradford School of Excellence.
