Nasrin Ali is a councillor for Levenshulme in Manchester.

Cathy Scott is a councillor for Dewsbury East and a Kirklees Cabinet member.

She tweeted: “Honoured to have been named on the shortlist to be Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Dewsbury. Busy month ahead!”

Meanwhile, Paula Sherriff is a councillor for Pontefract North.

She told Twitter followers: “Delighted and honoured to have been shortlisted today for Dewsbury parliamentary selection. Now back speaking to members about task ahead.”
