Kirklees Council agrees budget for 2012/2013

KIRKLEES Council has settled on a budget which will see almost £16m of cuts from services over the next 12 months.

Councillors met at Huddersfield Town Hall yesterday to argue over where money should be saved and spent over the next financial year as part of a wider plan to save up to £64m by 2015.

Leaders of each party presented their amendments to officer proposals announced last month and after two hours of debates members left the meeting to thrash out an agreed budget.
