Kelly queries Rams players' desire

Last week’s 58-12 defeat to high flying Leigh Centurions leaves the Rams third-bottom in the table, three points above Rochdale and Swinton.

Dewsbury have five games of the regular season remaining but have a run of favourable fixtures which sees them play Barrow, Sheffield and Batley after their trip to Swinton

Coach Neil Kelly has questioned his players’ desire and has called for big improvements as they bid to climb away from danger.

Kelly said: “I think some of the players have got to decide do they want to play for Dewsbury and be professional rugby league players?

“We create a lovely environment for them – maybe too nice – and that’s being done on the understanding they produce a good performance.

“I feel some of the players need to have a look at themselves because overall what we are producing is not good enough.

“I don’t think it’s about tactical or technical things, it’s about a simple thing called desire.”

Aaron Brown picked up a wrist injury during last week’s defeat to Leigh, which saw Robbie Ward have a terrific game capped with two tries.
