Jury is out in Brocklesby murder trial

THE JURY in the Peter Brocklesby murder trial has retired to consider a verdict.

Richard Oldroyd, 20, of Great Pond Street, Ravensthorpe, is on trial for the murder of Mr Brocklesby following a street brawl in Brooklyn Drive, Cleckheaton, on May 7.

Oldroyd denies murder but admits stabbing Mr Brocklesby twice in the back, while defending his friend from being attacked by the man.

The jury in the trial was sent out to consider a verdict on Tuesday, but their deliberations were adjourned until Thursday due to one of the jurors being unable to attend court today (Wednesday).
