It’s a scoop! Kids walk for Sam’s Wish

More than 50 pupils and parents from Hopton Primary School took part in a sponsored walk to raise money for the Sam’s Wish To Walk fund.

The kids trekked from the school to Charlotte’s Ice Cream Parlour in Whitley, and back again. Each child was treated to their favourite flavour as a reward for completing the walk.

Organiser Karen Braime said: “It was a sunny day so everybody had a really good time.

“The kids especially enjoyed their ice cream once they got to Charlotte’s!”

“We don’t yet know how much we have raised but we hope it is in the hundreds. We would like to thank everyone who came out and took part in this.”

The group has asked for the sponsor money to be handed in by the end of this week.”

The fund was set up for six-year-old Sam Bottomley to pay for an operation to help him walk.

The online total for Sam’s Wish currently stands at £14,738.52, just under half of the £35,000 they need to raise money for the surgery.

A bag-pack at Morrisons in Huddersfield last weekend raised £1,165.88. The group plans another bag pack will take place at Asda in Dewsbury on Saturday at 10am. For more information on upcoming events, visit www.facebook.com/samswishtowalk.
